Industrial Keyboard Enclosure Requirements
Industrial keyboards in food processing and outdoor applications must be sealed against dust and liquids (IP65 or IP66). In chemical processing and wash-down environments, enclosures must resist cleaning chemicals, solvents, and process chemicals. Industrial environments subject keyboards to vibration from machinery and potential impact. Enclosure Types

Case Study: Keyboard Enclosures for a Norwegian Industrial Customer
Keyboard enclosures and operator interface housings were fabricated at Fulei Metal during 2025 for an industrial customer based in Norway, in a programme of some 1,000 stainless components. An operator interface used in an industrial environment has to survive being cleaned, and cleaning is what sets the design. A unit that is washed down has to be sealed against a direct spray from any direction, which means no horizontal flanges where water can pool, no fixing that penetrates the sealed volume without a gasket, and a cable entry that enters from below rather than from the top. On an enclosure that will be operated with wet or greasy hands the enclosure also has to be stiff enough that pressure on a key does not flex the front panel – a panel that flexes will eventually break the seal around the edge, and the failure will appear at the seal rather than at the key.
