Learn how veterinary surgery tables for livestock are designed and fabricated for safety, hygiene, and precise positioning. Discover stainless steel construction and real-world installations.
Introduction
Large animal veterinary surgery requires specialized tables that can safely support cattle, horses, and other livestock during surgical procedures. These tables must handle significant weight, provide precise positioning, maintain strict hygiene standards, and ensure safety for both animals and veterinary staff. At Fulei Metal, we fabricate veterinary surgery table components for livestock health providers across Europe and Asia.
Surgery Table Design
Livestock surgery tables must support animals weighing 500 to 1,000 kg with appropriate structural design and material thickness. Table tops must provide drainage for surgical fluids with channels, drain connections, and collection systems. Tables must allow positioning for various surgical approaches with adjustable tilt, height, and rotation mechanisms. Restraint systems must hold animals safely during procedures without causing injury. Tables must be designed for thorough cleaning and disinfection between procedures.
Material Selection
Stainless steel (grade 304) is the mandatory material for veterinary surgery tables. It provides corrosion resistance against surgical fluids, blood, and disinfection chemicals. Its smooth surface is easy to clean and does not harbor bacteria. Grade 316L may be specified for particularly aggressive disinfection chemical exposure. We use 2.0 to 4.0 mm stainless steel sheet and tube for table construction.
Hygiene Design
All table surfaces must be smooth and easily cleanable without crevices, ledges, or dead spaces. Welds must be continuous and ground flush to create seamless surfaces. Corners must be rounded to facilitate cleaning. Table design must prevent fluid accumulation with properly sloped surfaces and drainage channels. All components must withstand regular cleaning with aggressive chemicals including alcohols, aldehydes, and oxidizing agents.
Fabrication Process
Our TRUMPF fiber laser cuts table components from stainless steel sheet with clean cut edges essential for hygienic surfaces. CNC press brake machines form table tops, side panels, and structural components with specialized stainless steel tooling. TIG welding produces smooth, hygienic welds that are ground flush and polished to seamless surfaces with argon back-purging for full penetration. Stainless steel components are pickled, passivated, and possibly electropolished for maximum corrosion resistance and cleanability.
Our assembly team installs hydraulic cylinders, positioning mechanisms, restraint systems, and drainage fittings. Each table undergoes load testing, operation verification, and leak testing.
Case Study: Large Animal Surgery Table
A European veterinary university required a custom surgery table for large animal procedures. The table needed to support cattle up to 800 kg, provide adjustable tilt and height positioning, include hydraulic operation, and maintain full hygienic cleanability. We fabricated the table from 3.0 mm 304 stainless steel with continuous TIG-welded seams, electropolished surfaces, hydraulic positioning system, and integrated fluid drainage. The university reported excellent performance, positioning precision, and hygiene maintenance over three years of intensive use.
Conclusion
Veterinary surgery table fabrication requires expertise in structural engineering, hygiene design, and stainless steel fabrication. Fulei Metal’s experience in veterinary equipment fabrication makes us a trusted partner for surgery table projects.
