Material Selection
Stainless steel (grade 304) provides premium signage with decades of corrosion resistance and a professional appearance. We use 1.5 to 2.5 mm sheet. Powder-coated aluminum provides lightweight signage with excellent color reproduction and corrosion resistance. Powder-coated galvanized steel provides cost-effective signage with good durability. Reflective sheeting may be applied to metal sign panels for night visibility. For coastal locations, grade 316L stainless steel is recommended.
Design Considerations
Signs must be readable from appropriate distances with adequate letter sizes, contrast, and illumination. Sign placement must be visible without obstruction from vehicles, vegetation, or other signs. Signs must withstand wind loads, potential vandalism, and graffiti. Mounting systems must be secure and appropriate for the installation surface. All edges must be smooth for public safety. Aesthetic design should create cohesive urban wayfinding identity. Signs must meet accessibility standards for visual impairment.
Fabrication Process
Our TRUMPF fiber laser cuts sign panel blanks, post components, and bracket plates from flat sheet stock. CNC press brake machines form sign panel edges, post profiles, and mounting brackets. Tube processing equipment cuts sign posts. Component assembly uses TIG welding for stainless steel and MIG welding for galvanized steel. Surface treatments include powder coating in client-specified colors, electropolishing for stainless steel, and anodizing for aluminum.
Case Study: Platform Signage Frames for a UK Project
Signage frames and wayfinding hardware were produced at Fulei Metal in 2025 within a UK project supplying approximately 1,500 platform facility components. Signage on a transport platform is a tolerance product with a practical edge to it: the frame has to accept a panel made by a specialist printer without rattle, and it has to hold that panel through wind loading and through being cleaned. The panel interface is therefore the dimension that matters, and it is agreed before the frame is cut, because the opening and the retention detail are formed into the frame rather than added afterwards. Where frames are anodized rather than coated, colour range and batch variation are settled up front: anodizing is produced from the aluminium itself, so two batches cannot be colour-matched the way two powder batches can.
