Learn how hydraulic station enclosures are fabricated for industrial hydraulic systems. Discover material selection, leak containment, and real-world installations.

What to Expect From Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Hydraulic power units (HPUs) provide pressurized fluid for industrial machinery, requiring enclosures that protect hydraulic components, contain leaks, and provide thermal management. These enclosures must withstand oil exposure, resist vibration, and maintain accessibility for maintenance. At Fulei Metal, we fabricate hydraulic station enclosure components for hydraulic system manufacturers across Europe and Japan.

Types of Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Full enclosures completely surround hydraulic power units with access doors and panels. Reservoir enclosures house hydraulic fluid reservoirs with level monitoring access. Pump enclosures house hydraulic pumps and motors with sound absorption. Valve manifold enclosures house control valves and manifolds. Filtration enclosures house hydraulic filters and coolers.

Sheet and Grade Selection for Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Cold-rolled steel is the standard material for hydraulic enclosures, providing strength and oil resistance. We use 1.5 to 2.5 mm sheet for panels and 2.0 to 3.0 mm tube for frames. For applications requiring corrosion resistance, stainless steel (grade 304) provides superior performance. Powder coating with oil-resistant formulations provides corrosion protection and professional appearance. All materials must withstand continuous oil exposure without degradation.

Design Points for Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Enclosures must contain hydraulic oil leaks with drip pans and drainage connections. Access doors must provide maintenance access to pumps, valves, filters, and reservoirs. Thermal management must prevent hydraulic fluid overheating through ventilation or cooling systems. Sound absorption may be required for pump noise reduction. All sealing must prevent oil leakage to surrounding areas. Enclosures must support the weight of hydraulic components. Mounting features must accommodate various component configurations. Aesthetic design should present a professional, clean appearance.

From Flat Blank to Finished Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Our TRUMPF fiber laser cuts enclosure panels, doors, and frame components from flat sheet stock with precise cutouts for gauges, valves, and access. CNC press brake machines form enclosure panels, drip pans, and mounting brackets with oil-tight seams. Component assembly uses MIG welding for steel and TIG welding for stainless steel, with continuous welds for oil containment. Surface treatments include oil-resistant powder coating and cleaning to remove manufacturing residues.

Field Notes: Hydraulic Power Unit Enclosures

A hydraulic power unit enclosure houses oil, pressure and heat, and each of those sets a requirement that is different from a general electrical enclosure. Oil means the base has to be arranged as a containment volume with a drain, because a leak that pools inside a sealed enclosure becomes a slow disaster – oil attacks coatings from underneath and the damage is invisible until the panel is removed. Pressure means the enclosure has to be detailed so that hoses and pipework can move slightly without loading a fitting, so open areas rather than tight cut-outs are used at pipe entries. Heat means ventilation or a defined mounting surface for a cooler, and ventilation means the enclosure is no longer sealed, so the dust and water specification has to be settled at the same time as the cooling requirement rather than afterwards.

Closing Notes on Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication

Hydraulic station enclosure fabrication requires oil containment engineering, thermal management, and accessibility design. Fulei Metal’s capabilities make us a trusted partner for hydraulic system enclosure projects.

Fulei Metal builds components like this in-house. The DFM engineering review page explains how the process is set up and checked, while custom metal enclosure manufacturing covers the materials and finishes we normally run. Related reading: Network Cabinet Enclosure Manufacturing Guide.

What a Hydraulic Power Unit Enclosure Has to Deal With

An enclosure around a hydraulic power unit is doing three jobs at once, and they conflict. It has to contain oil leakage, it has to let heat out, and it has to allow access to a pump, a motor and a filter that all need service. Most enclosure drawings that come to us solve one of the three and leave the other two to be discovered on site.

Containment is the one with the clearest drawing answer: a formed base tray with a lip, welded seams rather than sealed butt joints at the corners, and a drain point that is specified rather than improvised. Heat is the one that needs a number — the heat rejected by the unit, which sets the free area the ventilation openings have to deliver. Access is the one that needs a decision from the equipment designer: which items are serviced and how often, because that decides whether a side panel is hinged, removable with captive fasteners, or fixed.

Working to Your Existing Hydraulic Station Enclosure Fabrication Drawings

Yes. Send them with the heat rejection figure, the service access list and the oil containment requirement, and we will flag anything that will not form, will not seal at the base, or blocks a service item.

Do you supply the pump, motor or reservoir?

No. We build the enclosure, the base tray and the mounting hardware. The hydraulic components are yours or your equipment vendor’s, and the conformity assessment of the complete power unit belongs to them.

Noise, Ventilation and the Panels Between Them

Hydraulic power units are noisy, and the obvious response — line the enclosure — fights the ventilation requirement, because acoustic lining reduces free area at the openings. The way through it is a baffled vent: an opening that is acoustically indirect but still passes air, which is a fabricated detail rather than a bought part. It costs more than a louvered panel and it is the only option that satisfies both requirements in a confined plant room.

The second decision is where the air enters and leaves. A single opening does not ventilate; air needs a low inlet and a high outlet, and the positions are set by where the heat is generated inside. If the motor sits at one end, the outlet goes above it. That is a drawing detail that costs nothing to get right and is very expensive to correct after the panels are cut.

Inspection follows the buyer drawing and the approved sample, with general tolerances to ISO 2768 unless stated. Welded seams at the base tray are checked on a sample from each batch, and coating and material documentation is issued per order — see material certification and traceability. IP ratings quoted for enclosures of this kind are design targets on the drawing; where a buyer wants one verified, the test is arranged per order and the report ships with the batch. Need a Similar Part?

Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for Hydraulic Enclosure Fabrication — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.

We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.
