A chiller enclosure is large enough that it stops being a box and becomes a structure. At 1,200–2,500 mm across, the questions are panel stiffness, how it gets into the plant room, and whether it can be assembled without tools.
When an Enclosure Becomes a Structure
The enclosure on this page is 1.5–2.5 mm DC01 cold-rolled steel, laser cut, CNC bent, MIG welded and powder coated, built as sectional panels on aluminium profiles for tool-free assembly, rated IP44/IK08 indoors with an IP54 outdoor option, and available with 20–50 mm acoustic lining. The modular construction is not a convenience feature — at this size a one-piece welded box may not pass through the door of the room it is going into, and it certainly will not go up a stairwell.
Sectional assembly changes what has to be specified. Panel joints become the sealing detail and the stiffness detail at the same time, and the aluminium profiles carry both. Tool-free assembly is only worth having if the joints still seal after they have been taken apart and put back, so the gasket arrangement matters more here than on a small cabinet.
Airflow, Noise and the Trade Between Them
- Airflow requirement — perforated or louvered panels are matched to the unit’s airflow, not chosen from a pattern. Under-sized open area is the usual cause of a chiller that cycles.
- Acoustic lining — 20–50 mm PU foam or mineral wool reduces noise and reduces open area at the same time. The two have to be sized together.
- Outdoor versus indoor — IP44 covers indoor plant rooms; IP54 with a revised joint and gland arrangement is the outdoor option.
- Access for service — which panels come off for filter and coil access, and whether that can be done with the unit running.

How a Sectional Enclosure Is Checked
Inspection follows the buyer drawing and the approved sample. On a sectional build the checks that matter are panel dimensions, the fit of the profiles and joints, how the panels seat against their gaskets, and coating coverage — plus a trial assembly, because a modular enclosure that has only been checked panel-by-panel has not actually been checked. Ventilation open area and the acoustic lining are verified against the specification.
The IP and IK figures are design targets for the construction described; formal verification to IEC 60529, and any rating of the finished chiller, belong to the equipment manufacturer or the test body they nominate. Can it be assembled on site?
Yes — that is the point of the sectional construction. Tell us the access route and the panels are sized to it, which is also the reason the drawing review matters at this size.
Will the acoustic lining affect airflow?
Yes. Lining occupies open area, so the ventilation is sized with the lining included rather than added to it. Give us the airflow figure and both are calculated together.

What do you need from me to quote HVAC Chiller Enclosure?
2D drawings as PDF, DWG or DXF, or 3D files as STEP, IGES or SolidWorks, together with material grade, sheet thickness, surface finish, quantity and destination country. If the drawing is not finished yet, send a photo, a sketch or the existing part instead — we review what can be measured from it and reply with the questions that still need answering.
How long does a quotation take?
Enquiries are answered within one business day. Simple laser-cut and bent parts are quoted within 24 hours. Welded frames, assembled units and multi-part structures are quoted after the drawing review and process confirmation, and the date is confirmed in our reply.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Prototypes are made from a single piece and small batches of 10–50 pieces are routine. Prototype, first batch and repeat volume are quoted together so the numbers stay consistent as the project scales.
Can you work from a sample or a photo if I have no drawing?
Yes. Send the part itself, clear photographs with a rule or caliper in frame, or a dimensioned sketch. We measure what can be measured, list what is still undefined, and confirm it with you before production.
