A tool trolley is judged by its drawers. The frame and the castors matter, but what the user touches every day is the slide: whether a loaded drawer opens fully, closes without slamming, and stays shut when the trolley is pushed across a workshop floor.
What the Drawer Slide Actually Determines
The trolley on this page is 1.0–1.2 mm SPCC body with 1.5 mm drawer fronts, laser cut, CNC bent, spot welded and powder coated, with three drawers on full-extension ball bearing slides rated to 100 kg, carrying 100 kg total at 35 kg per drawer, centrally locked, on four swivel castors (two braked) with Ø100 mm PU wheels. Full extension is the specification that changes daily use: a three-quarter extension slide leaves the back of the drawer unreachable, which in practice means the back of the drawer stays empty.
The 1.5 mm drawer front is thicker than the body for a reason — the front takes the pull, the lock and the impact, and it is the face the user sees. A front that flexes makes a drawer feel cheap even when the slide is good.
Decisions That Change the Trolley
- Slide rating against real load — a drawer of sockets is denser than it looks. 35 kg per drawer is reached faster than most people expect.
- Locking arrangement — central locking with a cylinder key is the standard here. Whether one key locks all three drawers, and whether keys are common across an order, needs stating.
- Castor layout — four swivel with two braked suits a workshop bay. For long straight routes two fixed and two swivel tracks better.
- Top surface — the recessed tool tray keeps items from rolling off; a rubber mat option suits tools that should not be marked.
These belong in DFM review and are free to change at that point.
How Trolleys Like This Are Built and Checked
Laser cutting, CNC bending, spot welding, powder coating. The recurring risks are drawer squareness — a drawer that is not square will not run — and the alignment of the slides to the body. Fixtures hold the body through welding, and the drawers are run in the finished body before the batch settings are fixed.
Inspection follows the buyer drawing and approved sample: body dimensions, drawer fit and travel, slide function under load, lock operation, castor mounting and brake function, and coating coverage. Where a load test is called up on the order it is carried out to the stated figure and reported. Material documentation is issued with the batch; see material certification and traceability.
Samples are available at the stated fee, refundable against a bulk order — worth doing before fifty units, because a sample trolley can be loaded and used for a week first.
Can the slides be upgraded?
Yes. The 100 kg full-extension ball bearing slide is the standard; a higher rating or a soft-close slide is available where the duty justifies it.
Are the keys common across the order?
They can be, or keyed individually. Say which — it is decided at the lock specification, not afterwards.

Payment Terms
How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.
- 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
- 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
- 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.
If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.
Questions buyers ask before sending drawings
The questions that come up most often before a project starts, answered the way we answer them by email.
What do you need from me to quote 3-Drawer Steel Tool Trolley?
2D drawings as PDF, DWG or DXF, or 3D files as STEP, IGES or SolidWorks, together with material grade, sheet thickness, surface finish, quantity and destination country. If the drawing is not finished yet, send a photo, a sketch or the existing part instead — we review what can be measured from it and reply with the questions that still need answering.
How long does a quotation take?
Enquiries are answered within one business day. Simple laser-cut and bent parts are quoted within 24 hours. Welded frames, assembled units and multi-part structures are quoted after the drawing review and process confirmation, and the date is confirmed in our reply.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Prototypes are made from a single piece and small batches of 10–50 pieces are routine. Prototype, first batch and repeat volume are quoted together so the numbers stay consistent as the project scales.
Can you work from a sample or a photo if I have no drawing?
Yes. Send the part itself, clear photographs with a rule or caliper in frame, or a dimensioned sketch. We measure what can be measured, list what is still undefined, and confirm it with you before production.
Need a Similar Part?
Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for 3-Drawer Steel Tool Trolley — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.
We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.
No complete drawings yet? Describe the part, send photos or a sketch, or send a sample — we can start from there. Discuss your project.
