Fabrication Process

Tube processing equipment cuts and bends grab bar components. Component assembly uses MIG welding for steel and TIG welding for stainless steel. Case Study: Library Accessibility Fixtures for an East Asian Supplier

Accessibility fixtures have formed part of the library furniture range supplied in East Asia since 2024. Handrails, grab supports and reachable-height fittings belong to the group of products where the load is not what the drawing implies. A handrail is not loaded evenly – it takes a sudden concentrated pull at one point, often from somebody who is already unsteady, and the moment on the fixing is much higher than the same weight applied gently. Rail ends are therefore closed or turned, fixings are specified for the substrate rather than for the rail, and the assembly is checked with a point load at the end of the rail rather than at its centre. This is also a product where the finish matters for grip as well as for looks: a high polish on a handrail is a slipping surface.
