How This Wall-Mount Steel Enclosure Is Fabricated and Checked
A wall-mounted enclosure has one problem a floor-standing one does not: the load enters the wall through a small number of fixing points, and the door hangs on the same structure.
| Stage | What happens | What is verified before the job moves on |
|---|---|---|
| Shell and flange forming | Body, door and mounting flanges formed from sheet | The mounting flange positions and fixing centres, which decide how the weight transfers into the wall |
| Cut-outs | Cable entries, HMI apertures and ventilation made | Positions relative to the wall face, so the unit is still serviceable once it is mounted |
| Frame welding and reinforcement | Corner seams welded, with the mounting flange reinforced at the fixing points | Flange flatness at every fixing hole. A flange that is not flat pulls the body out of shape when the bolts are tightened |
| Door and gasket | Hinges, lock and gasket fitted | Door alignment and gasket compression, checked with the unit standing as it will hang |
| Surface preparation and coating | Degrease, phosphate, then powder coat with bonding points masked | Film thickness and coverage, which is harder to hold in a small cabinet than a large one |
| Assembly | Mounting plate, hardware and earth bonding fitted | Door-to-body continuity, and hardware torque |
| Packing | Wrapped with the door braced | The packed unit. Wall cabinets are often handled by one person, so the packing has to survive that |

Where Wall Mount Steel Enclosure Sheet Metal Can Be Revised Without New Tooling
The variables on a wall cabinet are the flange, the door and the internal depth. Change those and most else follows.
| What can be changed | What it affects | What it does not affect |
|---|---|---|
| Height, width and depth | Panel sizes and the flange geometry | The fixing concept, provided the flange stays |
| Single or double door | Hinge positions and the swing clearance needed on site | The wall fixings |
| Fixing centres and flange pattern | The anchors the installer has to size | The enclosure itself |
| Protection rating | Gasket, door stiffness and aperture treatment | The external dimensions |
| Ventilation | Filter position and the fan cut-out | The frame |
| Lock and handle | Access control, and whether a keyed lock or a quarter-turn is wanted | The door structure |
What Buyers Usually Ask About Wall Mount Steel Enclosure Sheet Metal
How do I know the enclosure will not pull off the wall?
Two variables decide it: the fixing points and the flange flatness. We keep the flange flat at every hole and give the fixing centres on the drawing, so the installer can size the anchors to the real load. A flange distorted by welding pulls the cabinet out of shape before load is even considered.
Can a shallow enclosure take a deep mounting plate?
Only to the depth the door allows, and the plate has to stay clear of the gasket as the door closes. Where component depth is tight, give us the component stack rather than the nominal internal depth, and the clearance is checked against what actually has to fit.
Is a wall cabinet suitable for outdoor use?
Not by itself. An external installation needs a different approach to the roof, the door and the condensation path, which is a design change rather than a gasket upgrade. If the site is external, say so at enquiry stage.
The wall interface is what makes these cabinets different from a floor-standing enclosure, and it is decided by the flange. Send the mounting surface and the anchor type through the RFQ form with the drawing, and the flange and fixing centres are set to suit. Wall Mounting: Load, Access and Swing
A wall-mounted enclosure is only as good as the wall behind it and the access in front of it. The mounting pattern has to suit the structure – a masonry wall, a steel frame, a machine bed – and the door has to open far enough to let someone work inside, which is a question of hinge side and of what is next to the box. We ask what the enclosure is mounted to and what is beside it, because a right-hand hinge against a wall is an enclosure nobody can service.
- Mounting hole pattern and bracket capacity follow the wall structure and the loaded weight.
- Door swing and hinge side are set from the site layout, not from a default.
- Where the box is deep, an internal mounting plate is removable so wiring can be done off the wall.
Sealing, Grounding and Cable Entry
Enclosure rating is achieved by the assembly: a continuous gasket land, even compression around the door, and cable entries that are sealed rather than pushed through a hole. Grounding needs a clean metal path, so paint and powder coat are masked off the contact faces the drawing names, or a ground stud is fitted. Where a drawing asks for an ingress rating, we build to it and we are clear that the rating is confirmed by testing the assembled enclosure, not inferred from the gasket specified.
Send the ingress requirement, the mounting substrate and the door swing direction with the enquiry. Electrical approval for the assembled equipment belongs to the equipment manufacturer and their certifying body. Lead time is quoted after drawing review and process confirmation.
Payment Terms
How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.
- 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
- 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
- 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.
If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.
Questions buyers ask before sending drawings
The questions that come up most often before a project starts, answered the way we answer them by email.
What do you need from me to quote Wall-Mount Steel Enclosure?
2D drawings as PDF, DWG or DXF, or 3D files as STEP, IGES or SolidWorks, together with material grade, sheet thickness, surface finish, quantity and destination country. If the drawing is not finished yet, send a photo, a sketch or the existing part instead — we review what can be measured from it and reply with the questions that still need answering.
How long does a quotation take?
Enquiries are answered within one business day. Simple laser-cut and bent parts are quoted within 24 hours. Welded frames, assembled units and multi-part structures are quoted after the drawing review and process confirmation, and the date is confirmed in our reply.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Prototypes are made from a single piece and small batches of 10–50 pieces are routine. Prototype, first batch and repeat volume are quoted together so the numbers stay consistent as the project scales.
Can you work from a sample or a photo if I have no drawing?
Yes. Send the part itself, clear photographs with a rule or caliper in frame, or a dimensioned sketch. We measure what can be measured, list what is still undefined, and confirm it with you before production.
Need a Similar Part?
Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for Wall-Mount Steel Enclosure — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.
We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.
No complete drawings yet? Describe the part, send photos or a sketch, or send a sample — we can start from there. Discuss your project.

Quotation Time
We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:
- Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
