How This Wall-Mounted Coat Rack Is Fabricated and Checked
A coat rack is a small part carrying an unpredictable load. It has to take a wet winter coat on one hook, be fixed to whatever the wall turns out to be, and still look straight after a few years.
| Stage | What happens | What is verified before the job moves on |
|---|---|---|
| Cutting and forming | Back plate and hook elements laser cut and formed to the design | Back plate flatness and hook positions. A back plate that is not flat pulls away from the wall as the screws are tightened |
| Hook forming | Hooks formed to the design profile, with the return radius the material will take | Hook profile and return radius. Too tight and it will not take a thick coat; too open and the coat slides off |
| Joint preparation and finishing | Hooks welded, riveted or threaded into the plate to the design | Joint strength at the hook root, which is where a coat rack fails under a sudden load |
| Fixing provision | Fixing holes made to the wall pattern, with the centres given for the installer | Hole positions and centres. A rack with no centres given is drilled by eye, and it looks it |
| Surface finish | Brushed stainless, or powder coat to the agreed colour | Grain direction on stainless, and film thickness at the hook roots where handling is concentrated |
| Load check | The rack mounted and loaded on each hook in turn | That no hook deforms at its design load and the plate does not pull off the wall |
| Packing | Fixings bagged with the unit, and the plate protected | That the fixings arrive with the part and the finish is unmarked |

What Can Change on Wall Mounted Coat Rack Metal Without New Tooling
Hook shape and fixing pattern are the two decisions; the plate follows from them.
| What can be changed | What it affects | What it does not affect |
|---|---|---|
| Length and hook count | Back plate size and the number of hook operations | The wall fixing pattern, provided it stays within the stud spacing |
| Hook shape and spacing | What it takes: coats, hats or bags | The back plate |
| Single row or double row | Whether the rack needs more depth and a stronger plate | The fixings |
| Material: stainless or coated steel | Appearance, corrosion behaviour and where it is used | The geometry |
| Finish and colour | Powder specification or grain direction | Nothing structural |
| Shelf or top rail above the hooks | Whether it is part of the same unit | The hook layout |
Wall Mounted Coat Rack Metal Questions, Answered
How much load does one hook take?
It is set by the hook root and by how the plate is fixed to the wall, and a wet winter coat is heavier than most people assume. Rather than quoting one figure, we check that no hook deforms at its design load and that the plate stays flat against the wall – which is the condition that actually fails in service.
What is the most common failure on a coat rack?
The hook root, usually under a sudden load rather than a steady one, and often on a rack where the hooks were only welded on one side. Forming the hook from the plate itself, or doubling the joint, costs very little and removes the failure mode.
Why give the fixing centres?
Because a rack installed by eye is never level and the hooks end up at different heights, which is the first thing anyone notices. With the centres marked, the installer drills to a pattern rather than to a feeling, and the rack goes up straight.
The hook root and the fixing pattern decide whether a coat rack still looks new in a hallway. Send the wall construction and what the hooks have to take through the RFQ form and the joint and centres are set to them. Payment Terms
How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.
- 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
- 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
- 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.
If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.
Questions buyers ask before sending drawings
The questions that come up most often before a project starts, answered the way we answer them by email.
What do you need from me to quote Wall-Mounted Coat Rack?
2D drawings as PDF, DWG or DXF, or 3D files as STEP, IGES or SolidWorks, together with material grade, sheet thickness, surface finish, quantity and destination country. If the drawing is not finished yet, send a photo, a sketch or the existing part instead — we review what can be measured from it and reply with the questions that still need answering.
How long does a quotation take?
Enquiries are answered within one business day. Simple laser-cut and bent parts are quoted within 24 hours. Welded frames, assembled units and multi-part structures are quoted after the drawing review and process confirmation, and the date is confirmed in our reply.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Prototypes are made from a single piece and small batches of 10–50 pieces are routine. Prototype, first batch and repeat volume are quoted together so the numbers stay consistent as the project scales.
Can you work from a sample or a photo if I have no drawing?
Yes. Send the part itself, clear photographs with a rule or caliper in frame, or a dimensioned sketch. We measure what can be measured, list what is still undefined, and confirm it with you before production.
Need a Similar Part?
Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for Wall-Mounted Coat Rack — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.
We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.
No complete drawings yet? Describe the part, send photos or a sketch, or send a sample — we can start from there. Discuss your project.

Quotation Time
We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:
- Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
- Complex assemblies — quoted after the drawing review. Payment kiosks, multi-part welded frames, enclosures with purchased hardware, or anything needing a coating or assembly trial. We confirm a quotation date once the scope is clear.
Production lead time is quoted separately, after drawing review and process confirmation. Send your drawings.
