How This Solar Panel Mounting Bracket Is Fabricated and Checked

A mounting bracket for an array is a field-fit part. It has to go together with the rails and the clamps on a roof, in weather, with the tolerance of the structure and of the panel, which is why the hole and slot design matters more than the material.

StageWhat happensWhat is verified before the job moves on
Cutting and formingBrackets cut and formed from sheet, or cut from sectionHole and slot positions and the angles on the first-off, since both ends of a bracket usually meet other parts
Slotted adjustment provisionSlots formed where field tolerance has to be absorbedSlot length and direction relative to the fixing, so the installer has adjustment in a direction that can actually be used
Bending anglesBend angles formed to the array geometryBend angle and the flatness of each leg. A bracket whose legs are not parallel loads its fixing unevenly
Hole and slot conditionAll holes and slots deburredBurr condition, which affects both how the fastener seats and how the coating adheres
Surface preparation and finishCoating to the exposure category, hot-dip galvanising, or mill finish stainlessThickness on external faces and inside the bend radius, which is where painted parts fail first
Thread and fastener provisionThreads tapped where required; fasteners supplied or specifiedThread condition after coating, and that threads are masked rather than filled
PackingBundled or boxed by bracket typeThat parts can be identified on site. Mixing similar-length brackets is a common site problem

Where Solar Panel Mounting Bracket Can Be Revised Without New Tooling

The array geometry and the rail profile are the fixed points; the bracket is where the adjustment is designed in.

Questions Buyers Ask About Solar Panel Mounting Bracket

Why are slots used rather than round holes?

Because on a roof the rail position and the structure rarely land exactly where the drawing says. Slots give the installer adjustment in the direction the tolerance actually moves. A slot in the wrong direction is worse than no slot, because it looks adjustable and is not.

Does stainless always need stainless fasteners?

Where the joint stays wet, yes, and mixing materials is a common cause of premature failure on arrays. The bracket and the fastener have to be specified as a pair, along with any washer or isolation the design calls for.

Can brackets be supplied drilled to a specific rail profile?

Yes, and it avoids site drilling, which is where coating damage and burrs come from. Send the rail profile and the clamp details and the pattern is made to suit them.

Field tolerance is what separates a bracket that installs cleanly from one that needs the drill on the roof. Send the rail profile and the structure details through the RFQ form and the slots and holes are positioned for that installation. What Decides Whether a Solar Bracket Survives Its First Winter

A photovoltaic bracket spends every hour of its service life outdoors, holding a panel that acts as a sail. Two things decide whether it is still sound after a few seasons: how the tilt mechanism resists loosening, and whether the coating was chosen for the site rather than for the price. An adjustable 5-45 degree hinge is a wearing joint. Every thermal cycle – cold night, hot panel, cold night – works the bolt a fraction of a turn. We size the pivot with a plain bush or a serrated washer interface so the setting stays where it was left, and we tell you at quote stage if the drawing relies on a single bolt through a slot.

  • Aluminum 6005-T5 is anodized after fabrication; the anodic layer is formed on the finished part, so cut edges and drilled holes must be clean before it goes into the tank.
  • Hot-dip galvanized steel is coated after welding, which means weld areas are protected too – the reason it is the usual choice for ground-mounted frames.
  • Mixing the two metals in one assembly without an isolator creates a galvanic couple; if the drawing does that, we raise it before cutting.

Reading Wind and Snow Numbers on the Drawing

The load figures on a bracket specification – a design wind speed and a snow load in kilonewtons per square metre – are site inputs, not properties of the part. They have to come from the installation location and the mounting method, and the structural check on the finished assembly is the responsibility of the installer or the engineer signing off the array. What we control is the part in front of us: the section, the gauge, the hole positions, the coating, and holding the stated tolerance so the panel rails land where the layout expects them.

Panel size drives everything downstream. A frame built for a module up to 2300 x 1200 mm has to resist torsion when the panel is racked, and that is a span question rather than a thickness question. If your layout uses a different module, send the dimension and the rail spacing with the drawing – the same bracket geometry does not automatically carry a larger panel. Lead time is quoted after drawing review and process confirmation.

Payment Terms

How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.

  • 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
  • 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
  • 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.

If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.

Questions buyers ask before sending drawings

The questions that come up most often before a project starts, answered the way we answer them by email.

What do you need from me to quote Solar Panel Mounting Bracket?

2D drawings as PDF, DWG or DXF, or 3D files as STEP, IGES or SolidWorks, together with material grade, sheet thickness, surface finish, quantity and destination country. If the drawing is not finished yet, send a photo, a sketch or the existing part instead — we review what can be measured from it and reply with the questions that still need answering.

How long does a quotation take?

Enquiries are answered within one business day. Simple laser-cut and bent parts are quoted within 24 hours. Welded frames, assembled units and multi-part structures are quoted after the drawing review and process confirmation, and the date is confirmed in our reply.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Prototypes are made from a single piece and small batches of 10–50 pieces are routine. Prototype, first batch and repeat volume are quoted together so the numbers stay consistent as the project scales.

Can you work from a sample or a photo if I have no drawing?

Yes. Send the part itself, clear photographs with a rule or caliper in frame, or a dimensioned sketch. We measure what can be measured, list what is still undefined, and confirm it with you before production.

Need a Similar Part?

Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for Solar Panel Mounting Bracket — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.

We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.

Quotation Time

We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:

  • Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
  • Complex assemblies — quoted after the drawing review. Payment kiosks, multi-part welded frames, enclosures with purchased hardware, or anything needing a coating or assembly trial. We confirm a quotation date once the scope is clear.

Production lead time is quoted separately, after drawing review and process confirmation. Send your drawings.
