Explore the fabrication of livestock identification tags, brackets, and accessory components. Learn about material selection, durability requirements, and farm management applications.

Scope of Livestock Tag Accessory Fabrication

Livestock identification is essential for herd management, traceability, and regulatory compliance. While ear tags and electronic identifiers are the primary identification tools, the brackets, holders, and accessory components that support identification systems also require durable fabrication. At Fulei Metal, we fabricate identification system components and farm accessories for livestock operations across multiple continents.

Identification System Components

Tag printing and dispensing stations require organized storage and weather protection. We fabricate tag station housings, dispensing brackets, and storage organizers from galvanized or stainless steel. Electronic identification (EID) reader mounts position readers at race exits, loading chutes, and sorting gates. We fabricate reader mounting brackets with adjustable positioning and weather protection. Tag application workstations provide organized areas for tagging animals with tool holders, tag trays, and workstation frames.

Farm Accessory Fabrication

Beyond identification systems, we fabricate numerous farm accessories including tool holders, equipment brackets, medication dispensing stations, and record-keeping desk housings. These accessories improve farm efficiency by organizing tools and materials in accessible locations. We also fabricate farm signage brackets, directional signs, and information display housings.

Material Options for Livestock Tag Accessory Fabrication

Galvanized steel is the standard material for outdoor and barn applications with corrosion resistance against moisture and animal waste. Stainless steel (grade 304) is used for food processing and pharmaceutical applications requiring frequent cleaning. Powder coating over galvanized steel provides color coding, additional corrosion protection, and improved appearance.

Decisions to Make Before Cutting Livestock Tag Accessory Fabrication

All components must have smooth surfaces without sharp edges that could injure animals or farm staff. Components must withstand daily use, animal contact, and exposure to dust, moisture, and cleaning chemicals. Designs must be easy to clean with minimal crevices and accessible surfaces. Components must be positioned at ergonomic heights for farm staff operation.

Process Steps for Livestock Tag Accessory Fabrication

Our TRUMPF fiber laser cuts brackets, housings, and mounting plates from flat sheet stock. CNC press brake machines form component bodies and mounting features. Component assembly uses MIG welding for galvanized steel and TIG welding for stainless steel. Components are hot-dip galvanized after fabrication or powder-coated in client-specified colors. Our assembly team installs hardware, hinges, and client-specified accessories.

Tag and Accessory Parts: Cost Sits in the Handling

Tag and accessory components are small parts, and small parts have their own manufacturing problem: the cost is in the handling rather than in the material, so the design has to suit the process. Parts that would work perfectly well as an individual machined item are instead designed as a fold so that they can be formed from strip without becoming a handling exercise. The tolerance that matters on this type of component is not the overall size but the position of the hole or slot relative to the fold, because that is the dimension the mating part is assembled to.

Turning a Livestock Tag Accessory Fabrication Drawing Into a Quote

Livestock identification and accessory fabrication requires precision manufacturing, understanding of farm operations, and corrosion protection expertise. Fulei Metal’s experience in livestock equipment fabrication makes us a trusted partner for identification system and accessory projects.

For OEM buyers the practical next step is a drawing review — see our DFM engineering review for what we need and how fast we turn it around. This work sits inside our custom sheet metal fabrication capability, and Cattle Fence Panel Fabrication explains the technical background in more detail.

Small Components, Consistent Every Time

Ear tag applicators, clips and the small metal parts that go with an identification system are made in volume and handled by someone wearing gloves in a yard. That combination drives the specification: the part has to be identical every time or it will not feed through the applicator, and it has to have no edge that can cut an animal or a hand. Consistency comes from the process, not from inspection – we hold the pierce-and-form tooling and the datum through the run so part ten thousand still fits the applicator.

  • Every edge the animal or the operator contacts is radiused or rolled in the tooling.
  • Feeding and mating dimensions are treated as critical and checked on the first article and at intervals through the run.
  • Surface finish is specified for cleanability, because these parts are washed and disinfected.

Material for Outdoor Yard Use

These parts live outside, get dropped in mud, and are cleaned with whatever is available. Stainless is the usual answer for the small wearing parts, with a passivated finish; where cost rules it out, a zinc-plated or galvanized mild steel part works provided the coating is not abraded off in the first month. We will say which we recommend for the quantity you have in mind rather than quoting both without an opinion.

Animal safety and any regulatory approval for an identification device are the responsibility of the product owner placing it on the market. We supply the metal component to the drawing and to the dimensional checks it specifies. Lead time is quoted after drawing review and process confirmation.

Need a Similar Part?

Most enquiries that start on a page like this are not an order for Livestock Tag and Accessory Fabrication — they are a search for a factory that can make something like it. Send us your drawing, 3D model or sample and we will review the manufacturing process and the quotation requirements, then come back with a process plan, a price and a lead time.

We work from 2D drawings, STEP / DWG / DXF / PDF files, or a physical sample if that is all you have.

Send Your Drawings

Trade Terms and Delivery

We quote under the standard Incoterms your logistics team already works with, and build the packing and documentation around the one you choose.

  • EXW — you collect from our Ningbo facility and run export clearance through your own forwarder.
  • FOB Ningbo — we deliver to the vessel at Ningbo port and handle export clearance.
  • CIF — we cover carriage and insurance to your named destination port.
  • DDP — we handle carriage, insurance, import clearance and duties through to your door.

Send your destination country, target delivery date and preferred trade term together with the drawing. Request a quotation.

Payment Terms

How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.

  • 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
  • 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
  • 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.

If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.

Quotation Time

We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:

  • Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
  • Complex assemblies — quoted after the drawing review. Payment kiosks, multi-part welded frames, enclosures with purchased hardware, or anything needing a coating or assembly trial. We confirm a quotation date once the scope is clear.

Production lead time is quoted separately, after drawing review and process confirmation. Send your drawings.
