Conveyor parts are a family rather than a product, and what they share is that almost every one of them is a locating part rather than a load-bearing one. Side frames, support brackets, guide rails and chute panels all exist to put something else in the right place, so the dimensions that matter are the hole positions and the relationships between them, not the plate sizes. That has two consequences. First, a conveyor run is assembled from many parts and the errors add up along it, so individual part tolerances have to leave room for the accumulated total. Second, parts that look interchangeable rarely are – a bracket that is right for one roller diameter is wrong for the next size up, and a change to the roller or belt specification is usually a change to several parts rather than one.
