Weight, Venting and Service Access on a Battery Cabinet

A cabinet that houses energy storage cells is not a general-purpose enclosure. Three things set it apart. Weight: cells are dense, so the load lands on the base and the shelf supports rather than on the walls, and a shelf sized for office equipment is not sized for this. Venting: the enclosure has to let gas and heat escape in a controlled way, which means defined vent areas positioned where they work, not decorative slots. Access: cells are serviced and eventually replaced, so the door opening and the shelf depth have to allow a module to come out without dismantling the frame.

  • Tell us the cell or module dimensions and the weight per module. The shelf section and the support detail follow from those numbers, not from the outer cabinet size.
  • Vent position matters more than vent area. Vents at the top and bottom of the same cavity move air; vents on one face do not.
  • If the design needs a firewall between modules, that is a partition detail with its own material requirement – raise it at drawing stage.

Material Range and What Each One Is For

SPCC cold-rolled steel is the default for an indoor cabinet that will be powder coated. SGCC galvanized is used where the base material needs its own corrosion resistance before coating, typically for outdoor or damp locations. SUS304 stainless is chosen for wash-down, coastal or food-adjacent environments, and it is usually left brushed rather than coated. Thickness from 1.2 to 3.0 mm covers light housings up to structural frames; the right gauge is set by span and load, not by a default.

Stated tolerance of plus or minus 0.1 mm on the cabinet body is achievable on formed panels and it is worth stating, because that is what allows door and panel parts to interchange between units in a batch. Silk screening for labels and warnings is done after coating. Certification of the finished battery system – electrical safety, transport, fire behaviour – is carried out by the system manufacturer or a third party they appoint; our scope is the metal enclosure built to the drawing. Minimum order is one piece, and lead time is quoted after drawing review and process confirmation.

What a Storage Cabinet Has to Carry

Power storage cabinets are heavier than they look. A cabinet loaded with battery modules puts a real load into the base and into the shelf or rail supports, and that load is what decides material thickness and how the frame is joined — not the appearance of the front panel.

Modularity is the second constraint. If the cabinet is one of several in a row, or if modules slide in on rails, the inside dimensions and how repeatable they are matter more than the outside. Cabinet-to-cabinet consistency across a batch is what makes modules interchangeable.

We look at load path, module interface and thermal provisions before quoting, because those three decide the frame design. The outer panels follow from them.

Frame, Panels and Marking for Storage Cabinets

Cabinet bodies start as laser-cut blanks formed on CNC press brakes. Frames and load-bearing members are welded, with weld sequence set to keep the cabinet square so doors and shelves fit without being forced.

Shelf rails, module guides and cable entry positions are built to the drawing, since these are the features that make modules interchangeable between units. Where a cabinet has to be sealed or vented, the openings and any gasket seats are part of the same build rather than an afterthought.

After welding and deburring, cabinets are powder coated, and silk-screen marking is applied from supplied artwork — labels, warning text and branding are produced from your file rather than set by us.

What We Check on a Storage Cabinet

Cabinet squareness and the inside dimensions the modules bear on are checked on the first unit, because a cabinet that is out of square at the frame will not accept its modules smoothly.

Door and panel fit is checked, along with the mounting positions that carry the load. Coating coverage is checked at edges and at welds.

Incoming material checks, first-article inspection, in-process dimensional checks and final inspection photos can be provided. Electrical, thermal and protection performance of the storage system is verified on the assembled unit by the system maker or a third party; our scope is the cabinet built to your drawing.

Cabinets and Enclosures for Storage Projects

  • Battery storage cabinets and enclosures
  • Modular cabinet bodies with shelf or rail supports
  • Outdoor storage cabinets with weather-resistant coating
  • Power distribution and control cabinets
  • Prototype cabinets built before a system design is frozen

What Speeds Up a Cabinet Quote

  • Drawing with internal layout and module interface dimensions
  • Material and thickness, or the load the cabinet has to carry
  • Ventilation, sealing and cable entry requirements
  • Artwork files for silk-screen marking
  • Quantity for prototype and for production

Storage Cabinet Questions

Can you build to our internal module dimensions?

Yes. Send the layout drawing; the inside dimensions that modules bear on are checked on the first unit.

How is cabinet-to-cabinet consistency kept?

Through welded frames built in fixture and first-article checks on the dimensions that affect module fit.

Can you add ventilation or cable entry?

Yes, when they are on the drawing so they are built into the same job rather than added afterwards.

Can you apply our branding and warning labels?

Yes. Silk-screen marking is produced from artwork you supply.

Trade Terms and Delivery

We quote under the standard Incoterms your logistics team already works with, and build the packing and documentation around the one you choose.

  • EXW — you collect from our Ningbo facility and run export clearance through your own forwarder.
  • FOB Ningbo — we deliver to the vessel at Ningbo port and handle export clearance.
  • CIF — we cover carriage and insurance to your named destination port.
  • DDP — we handle carriage, insurance, import clearance and duties through to your door.

Send your destination country, target delivery date and preferred trade term together with the drawing. Request a quotation.

Payment Terms

How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.

  • 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
  • 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
  • 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.

If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.

Quotation Time

We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:

  • Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
  • Complex assemblies — quoted after the drawing review. Payment kiosks, multi-part welded frames, enclosures with purchased hardware, or anything needing a coating or assembly trial. We confirm a quotation date once the scope is clear.

Production lead time is quoted separately, after drawing review and process confirmation. Send your drawings.
