Choosing Between Stainless and Coated Steel

Charging station cabinets are usually quoted in three materials, and the choice is rarely about strength. It is about where the cabinet stands, how often it is touched, and what the brand wants it to look like after two years.

SUS304 is chosen where the cabinet is exposed to weather or to public handling, and where a brushed or unpainted finish is part of the product design. SPCC and SECC are chosen for painted cabinets, where the coating system carries the corrosion protection and where unit cost matters across a rollout.

We ask where the cabinets are installed and whether they are painted or left bare, because that decides the material and the finish route before any cutting starts.

Building a Cabinet for Public Installation

Blanks are laser cut and formed on CNC press brakes. Charging cabinets are formed with the door opening and the cable exit in mind, so the front face stays flat enough for a door to seal, and the cable exit does not leave a sharp edge where a user can reach it.

Seams are MIG or TIG welded depending on material and thickness, with brackets and internal mounting features welded in fixture. On stainless, weld colour and consistency are controlled, because a visible seam on a bare cabinet is part of the finished appearance.

Painted cabinets are deburred and surface prepared before powder coating; stainless cabinets are finished as specified. Locks, fixings and branding are applied to the buyer’s specification.

What We Check on a Charging Cabinet

Door fit and the flatness of the door opening are checked on the first cabinet, since a door that does not sit flush is the most visible defect on a public installation.

On stainless, weld appearance and surface finish are reviewed against the agreed reference. On painted cabinets, coating coverage is checked at edges and around openings.

Incoming material checks, first-article inspection, in-process dimensional checks and final inspection photos can be provided. Electrical safety and any protection rating for the charging equipment are certified on the assembled product by the equipment maker or a third party; we build the cabinet to the drawing.

Charging Cabinet Questions

Stainless or coated steel?

SUS304 for exposed or bare-finish cabinets; SPCC or SECC where the cabinet is painted and unit cost across a rollout matters.

Can you build a private-label cabinet?

Yes. Branding, locks and fixings are applied to your specification and artwork.

How do you keep doors fitting flush?

Door openings are formed with the door in mind, and flatness is checked on the first cabinet.

Is the cabinet certified for electrical use?

Certification of the charging equipment is done on the assembled product by the equipment maker or a third party. We build the cabinet to your drawing.

Payment Terms

How a project is paid for is agreed before production starts, and the structure that applies to your order is stated on the quotation and on the order confirmation, so there is no ambiguity later.

  • 30% advance payment with the order and the 70% balance before shipment — our standard structure.
  • 70% advance payment with the order and the 30% balance before shipment — used for some projects.
  • 100% payment in advance before production starts — used for some projects.

If your finance team works to a fixed structure, say so in the first enquiry and we will confirm what applies to your order before you commit. Request a quotation.

Quotation Time

We quote from your drawings. How long that takes depends on what the part asks for:

  • Simple parts — quoted within 24 hours. Laser-cut blanks and bent components, supplied with complete 2D or 3D drawings. Mon–Fri, GMT+8.
  • Complex assemblies — quoted after the drawing review. Payment kiosks, multi-part welded frames, enclosures with purchased hardware, or anything needing a coating or assembly trial. We confirm a quotation date once the scope is clear.

Production lead time is quoted separately, after drawing review and process confirmation. Send your drawings.
